It’s funny how I seem to go through little patches of productivity. Days go by without having drawn anything with me knowing all too well that I’ve got shit tons of stuff to do but as soon as I get down to it I feel like I could lock myself indoors for weeks on end untill all my projects are complete.
Anyways that’s how I felt today, I got a lot done towards the book I’m illustrating, made a wee T-shirt design and finished a painting.
Let me share. This is a design I made because I love space and all things spacey so I drew this up with the intention of getting it printed onto bags and t-shirts so other fellow space fans can be proud of their space love.

I also did a lot of work for the book I’ve been yammering on about forever but I’ll explain all that stuff in a separate post once it’s done. I also finished a painting today, although it’s hard for me to tell when I’ve finished a painting I always feel that it’s missing something so I usually leave it for a weeks and then come back to it with a fresh head.

This will (If i still like it) be one of the smaller pieces I’ll be exhibiting at the end of the year along with tons more robot paintings.
As always any feedback is more than welcome, and please be sure to check out my shop as I’m always putting up new stuff!
take care!

Robots,my favourite vehicles of expression.

As you can maybe guess I’ve been feeling a bit run down recently, mainly because I’ve been out and about so much and it’s starting to take a toll on my sleeping pattern and work ethic, im getting back to normal though I just need a good nights sleep and that’ll be me!
In other news, I’ve updated my shop, I’ll be sticking up a lot more stuff once my new prints arrive, which im quite excited about.
take care!

Hello! How’ve you been keeping?
I’ve been busy painting the last few days and would like to share my new pictures :) I’ve been lacking slightly in inspiration for the past wee while, I guess nothing all that interesting has been happening, so I thought to myself, what used to inspire me when I was a lil’ un? and of course it was computer games!
So I started off with my all time favourite series Zelda! Here’s Link, he’s found a triforce.
It’s based on the concept art for the first nes game where all the characters were a bit more cartoony which fortunately lent itself quite nicely to my style.
But It didn’t stop there! here’s a magic mushroom, they make mario grow big.
And so no mushroom is left out, I also painted a 1-up!
I’d love to do more stuff like this, but obviously I don’t want to turn into ‘that nintendo guy’ im only just getting over being commonly known as ‘the robot guy’ I do love it though, I remember reading my first school report card which went something like ‘Neil could go far if he spent less time doodling video game characters on his jotter and more time on his work’ and that was pretty much the same right through to secondary school :P
Alright I’ll stop geeking out now.
take care!

Hello again! It’s that time again for another insight into the amazing life of a mental artist, This week I’d just like to show off another painting, this one was actually a commission, and like the best kind of commissions, I was given complete freedom (although other times jobs with strict guidelines can have interesting results) and so I had a flick through some of my sketchbooks and found a little idea I jotted down some time ago.

Basically, as I often do, I pondered into the life of a robot, this time a giant robot. Now, a lot of the time in sci-fi films robots and monsters find themselves in big cities (always new york city for some reason, place must be a dump now). Anyways I got to thinking what if I was a big robot in that situation, would I go ballistic and start tearing the place up? probably not, I’d probably have a seat, or try to find a giant robot or lizard pal to hang out with.
And that my friends is the kind of thinking behind most of my pieces!
hope you like it!

Hello! hope everyone had a great Christmas! Mines was lovely, It was mainly spent indoors watching the telly with the family and trying to eat and drink my own bodyweight.
Over the Christmas period i received quite an overwhelming amount of commissions, and to my surprise most of which were comic and computer games characters! and i knoow i said id stop posting up geeky stuff but i promise this is the last :P

Yes It’s Vault boy from fallout! and im pretty proud of how he turned out :)
Anyways, that’s all my Christmas stuff done so next on my agenda is getting a new exhibition together for springtime, im not going to say exactly what its about, mainly because i always change my mind at the last minute, but what i can say is that it’ll be a bit cosier than last time and although it’ll be a solo exhibition i’m aiming to get alot of other people involved :)
more soon!

It has come to my attention that i have a habit of talking about other artists a lot more than myself, not to worry though! i have some new work on the horizon to show off but before that id like to talk about my arty friend from the states Marcia Furman.
Marcia’s from Butler in Pennsylvania, and like me is inspired by life experience, emotions and stories. I like to think our art’s kind of similar in way, and some of her pictures have definitely helped pop some ideas in my head since we’ve been in contact.
‘did you ever have that feeling?’ (my fav :p)
‘i’ll try anything’
‘resistant’
I really love the thick texture they all have and how they all have stories behind them that seem innocent and simple but could also be seen as a lot more complex. i also think they’d be excellent in a picture book!( i get told that a lot, trust me it’s in the making).
If youd like to find out more about Marcia please check out her blog, myspace, facebook or have a peep at her etsy shop!
Thanks for reading!
take care nx
