Jonbot vs. Martha

September 15, 2011

As some of you may know I’ve toying with making comics for a very long time, well after a wee chat with my comic expert/writer Colin we decided to make a weekly webcomic!

How exciting! It’s all about a lady called Martha and her husband Jon who died of a heart attack but then got brought back to life as a robot.

That’s right a robot! And they’re also trying to get a divorce, it’s the perfect pitch for a sitcom if you ask me.

Anyways here’s the first one (click it for a larger size), and you get all the others  here!

Also I’d like to note that my blog is now 2 years old! woo woo! So In the birthday spirit I’ll be doing a little competition and giving away prizes :) stay tuned!

A Week in Pictures

June 14, 2011

This week kinda started out like this…

But it was cool because it ended like this…

I guess the best thing to do when you’re stumped is to just work through it till something happens. I’ve actually been getting a lot done recently. I’ve started a couple of new paintings and I’m just about finished illustrating the book I’ve been working on, here’s a peek of one of the mock ups but don’t tell anyone you saw it!

:) see ya soon!

Tiny comics

May 2, 2011

It’s been a while since I tried something in the comic form, and I’m a bit disappointed in myself about it because I read and think about comics pretty much all day. So I popped one out today,I basically just took some ramblings from my sketchbook and re-made it into pictures with panels but I’m quite pleased with it.

It’s something I’d quite like to take a bit further though, like maybe make a little book/zine about my other wacky adventures. Someone I really admire in the indie comic scene is Jeffrey Brown. I’ve always admired his really simple style and the brutally honest story telling found in his autobiographical stuff.  Here’s a wee snippet of his stuff!

Anyways please check out his stuff, I’m off to draw more comics :)

 Take care!

Amazing Invention #16

January 9, 2011

This is a prime example of why I carry a sketchbook about, because sometimes gold like this pops in my head.

I’ve actually got some friends who knit so it’s possible I could turn this into a real thing, maybe I could go on dragons’ den?

Anyways that’s all!

Sketchbook Entry 12/11/10

November 12, 2010

So I got home from work today feeling a bit creative, but only having an hour or so to spare before I went back out. I thought to myself ‘maybe instead of doing my usual faffing about with computers or flicking through tv channels I’ll set myself a little challenge?’ like making and finishing something within the hour.

It was originally made of 2 or 3 different pictures but I ended up cropping it lots as I like this composition better. Anyways, It’s about me fancying someone.

In other news I have recently acquired a new robot, I think he looks like a Percy, wouldn’t you say?

As always, any feedback on my work is more than welcome!

take care nx

Neils Day Off.

March 11, 2010

Hello everyone hope you’re all well!

I have lots of stuff to show today, I was going to spread it out over a few posts but I’m away at the weekend so I’m just gonna cram it all into one big post :)

OK, first things first,  I know I’ve been prancing about the subject of my next exhibition and trying not to give away too much, but with 3 weeks to go now’s about the time to explain what It’s going to be like,  and doing that for me are the lovely hosts Made In The Shade via their lovely blog which is here, please have a look!

Also today I found some time to make a couple of sketchbook entrys!

am i the only person that thinks this?

Also today I got a couple of things in the mail, including a massive guillotine of death for cutting paper and a bad ass bench stapler so i can get to work on making some zines :)
But the best thing that came was this…

It’s a robot pencil case! (unfortunately my dinosaur pencil case just had enough and is now in a sad state) I got it from a lovely shop on etsy and im just chuffed with it, my pens have never been happier!

anyways I think that’s enough for today, have a great weekend!

I blame nintendo

August 9, 2009

Todays little doodle is a symbol of one of my most favourite things ever, computer games! and most of all nintendo computer games!

Yeap, nintendos always been there for me,ive had pretty much every console and handheld, except for some of the game boy spin offs.

Actually thinking about it, computer games had a massive effect on my doodles as a child, and quite possibly started me drawing alltogether.

I remember all my school jotters being absolutely plastered in marios, links and sonics (yea i know he’s not nintendo) and although id keep getting into trouble i kept it up right through secondary school.

I’d like to admit i think ill always be into computer games, and one day id love to be able to do some concept art towards one.

just another thing on my long list of stuff id love to do!

Also while im on the subject ill like to congratulate the game boy on its 20th anniversary!

Hope everyone’s peachy!
