New In Town

July 1, 2010

Hello again! It’s that time again for another insight into the amazing life of a mental artist, This week I’d just like to show off another painting, this one was actually a commission, and like the best kind of commissions, I was given complete freedom (although other times jobs with strict guidelines can have interesting results) and so I had a flick through some of my sketchbooks and found a little idea I jotted down some time ago.

Basically, as I often do, I pondered into the life of a robot, this time a giant robot. Now, a lot of the time in sci-fi films robots and monsters find themselves in big cities (always new york city for some reason, place must be a dump now). Anyways I got to thinking what if I was a big robot in that situation, would I go ballistic and start tearing the place up? probably not, I’d probably have a seat, or try to find a giant robot or lizard pal to hang out with.

And that my friends is the kind of thinking behind most of my pieces!

hope you like it!

Starting Again.

November 3, 2009

Taking a break from college and commissions (and all the stuff i should be doing),I decided to take the day off and paint for myself, and this is what came about.
I guess it’s about wanting to get away from everything, almost like that ‘need a holiday’ feeling although i also wanted to delve a little bit into possessions and if you’d be the same person if you put them all in a big fire.

Hope you like it!

The Idea Of Safety

September 29, 2009

Hello!

Hope everyones well!

Today I’d like to blab about a semi recent work called ‘the idea of safety’

I made this a few months ago and only just recently remembered how fond i was of it.

i miss it a bit actually!

It started off as a commission for someone, but as per i changed the subject to suit something i wanted to paint.

What i was trying to put across was the feeling of being safe and how outside dangers can enhance that, I’ve always loved the feeling of being in bed all cosy whilst there’s a thunderstorm or other kind of nasty weather going on outside.

I find it a bit romantic actually, thinking about it I actually met my girlfriend in a coffee shop while it was all snowy outside. magical!

if you liked the picture have a peek at kurt halseys stuff!

right that’s my blabbing for today,

Id just like to say a big thanks to everyone who made it along to made in the shade at the lighthouse gallery on Saturday, I had a great day and hope to do it again soon!

thanks for reading! take care!
