My Holiday Diary

April 2, 2011

Hello!

Hope you’re all doing well! I had a lovely wee holiday, it was totally beautiful and just what I needed. Now I’m back feeling super relaxed, inspired and more importantly, more productive.

Anyways, I made a little diary while I was away that I’d like to share with you.

Below are my first few entries, I’ll be getting the rest up in the next few days.

Take care!

5 Artists You Should Know About

August 5, 2010

Hello! hope you’re all well, this week I’ve been mainly blasting through some big paintings and commissions as well as other bits and bobs, unfortunately some of the commissions are confidential and I’ve yet to finish any of my personal paintings so I don’t have anything to show. But that doesn’t stop me from showing you some of my current favourite artists!

1.Amy Sol

Just now, I’m totally in love with how delicate her painting style is, and also how beautiful her muted pallet is, more about her here.

2. Tara Mcpherson

As some of you may know, I’ve been a huge fan of Taras work for a long time now, what I like most is her characters and the amount of detail that goes into her work, always inspiring. more about Tara here.

3. Ekundayo

Although primarily a street artist, I cant help but be amazed at Ekundayos acrylic work, seeing his work made me take the medium a lot more seriously, more about him here.

4.Noferin

When I first came across Noferin I was immediately drawn to the cute characters and the little stories behind them, noferins work is often refered to as ‘the greatest children’s story never told’ I am fortunate to own a print and limited edition toy of theirs :) more about noferin here.

5. Jeff Soto

I’ve always loved Jeff style and how he constantly pushes his medium to its limits, his robots and surreal style have very much inspired me, more about Jeff here.

Well that’s It for now, thanks for reading! and if you know of any cool artists I might like please let me know!

take care

My Friend Alan

February 11, 2010

Hello! hope everyone’s doing well, I realise it’s been a little while since I actually talked about someone else on my blog, which I feel a bit bad for, one of the main reasons I set it up was to share the work of other artists and creatives as well as my own.
Anyways, today im biggin up my photographer friend Alan Campbell. Alan’s from just outside Glasgow in Airdrie and is a bit of a jet-setter, but for good reason as the pictures he takes on his trips are pretty amazing.

I especially like how Alan captures the people in his photos, I was fortunate enough to catch up with him to check out some galleries around town right before he popped off to Vienna.

For more on Alan check his Flickr or Site, also the ‘Line Cut Sky Exhibition’ here.

thanks for reading! more paintings soon :)

Garry MacLennan,My Favourite Photo Person.

August 12, 2009

I’d like to think if for whatever reason i put down all my pens, pencils and brushes etc and picked up a camera my art would come out a bit like Garys, He is a very good friend of mine and also one of my favourite photographers!

After getting to know him through craft markets etc we found we had quite a lot in common, mostly a love of robots and all things spacey.
After a lot of talking and careful planning me and Gary put on a joint exhibition in Glasgow named ‘Uninvited’ which would explore the ups and downs as life as a robot in the city.

It was a fantastic turnout and i have to say one of the big highlights of my year so far.

Anyway here are some of the photos!

Elderly Robot, Margaret, did you remember the messages list?

This was much more fun when she was here

Do you have to go out tonight i made steak pie

I love how they all have little stories in them, all with a little touch of humour.

Gary also sent me some of his newer works, which feature tiny plastic people, almost in a slinkachu style, going about their tiny lives.  I think the new stuffs amazing, especially the one with the sheep!

I know katy, i wish she was here too

imk just going to say hello, i wont scare them

For more on Gary and his photos check out his flickr and/or myspace.

Thanks for reading!
