How to Draw a Robot

September 4, 2010

Hello hope you’re all doing well and having a great weekend! I’ve had a very exciting week as I’ve started my new job as a community art teacher, which so far has been the most fun I’ve ever had in a job so as you can imagine I’m chuffed to bits!

Anyway whilst in teacher mode I mocked up a little how-to sheet for the kids, but you can try it too!

It’s four simple steps to drawing a robot, as long as you know your shapes you’re sorted, and if you have a ruler even better!

Step 1. Draw a large rectangle with a square directly below it

Step 2. Add circles to the large rectangle and join the two shapes with 2 small lines (that’s your robots neck).

Step 3. Add in some arms and legs, keeping everything square.

Step 4. Give him a cheeky smile and some buttons!

Now that wasn’t so hard was it? you could even colour him in :)

Try it yourself!

To the future.

May 1, 2010

Today was a sad day, today I closed my exhibition. Although I am left feeling quite happy though, Looking back, the exhibition had a great turnout, much more than anything previous. I also got a lot of great feedback from people (most via my comments book, which im keeping!) and I’m so grateful to have been given the opportunity to share my work in the gallery.

So now I’m left thinking ‘what next?’ and ‘how can I top that?’ well Ive been thinking a lot and for the next few months I’m going to go back into canvas painting with some ideas that have been rattling around in my books for a while, talking about books I’d like to get a book out and finally get some zines together :)

so that’s the plan, I’d also like a holiday too but maybe that’s just wishful thinking.

I’ll be keeping all my progress updated up here too, I’ll also be putting up some more of the last exhibitions doodles that the internet world hasn’t seen yet, such as this!

and theres plenty more where that came from!

take care!

p.s you’ll also notice ive updated my blog roll slightly, if you get a moment please have a peek at some of my friends stuff and also my ‘wonders of the internet’ which is a small collection of some cool sites I keep up with.
